Usain Bolt wins 100m and 200m for third straight Olympics
Heading into Thursday’s 200m final, Usain Bolt already had one gold medal to his credit in the Rio Olympics, the one he won in the 100m for the third consecutive Olympics. He had no problem capturing gold medal No. 2 of this year’s games.
Bolt won the gold medal in the 200m during the Beijing Games in 2008 and during the London Olympics in 2012. With a time of 19.78 seconds, the Jamaican star made it three consecutive victories in the event. And, it wasn’t just that Bolt won the race, it’s how easy he made it look.

Bolt became the first two win the 100m and 200m in three consecutive Olympics. He also secured his 8th Olympic gold medal, which ties him for third most in track & field history. With another gold in the 4×100 relay, Bolt will tie Carl Lewis and Paavo Nurmi for the top spot.
There’s a chance the relay could be Bolt’s final Olympic event, perhaps giving us just one more opportunity to see the greatest sprinter of all-time on the sport’s biggest stage.
