Sophie Turner the latest to defend Alex Morgan over celebration
Alex Morgan claims her controversial sipping-tea celebration was more of a tribute to actress Sophie Turner than it was a shot at her World Cup opponent, and the “Game of Thrones” star clearly approves.
Turner, who is on her honeymoon this week after marrying Joe Jonas, posted a response to Morgan’s celebration on her Instagram story. She said she is “honored” and ripped anyone who had a problem with it.

Morgan told reporters on Friday that she feels the reaction to her celebration proves there’s a double standard with how female athletes and male athletes are treated. The counterargument to that would be that she was mocking England with the celebration, and at least one English player made it clear she did not appreciate it.
Turner is from England, for what it’s worth.
