I guess when you have a $50 million P.R. budget to make things right for one of the biggest offshore oil spills the world has seen, you can afford a 60 second commercial during the NBA Finals on ABC. Whether or not BP was running the commercial to truly reach the residents of the affected area nearby the Gulf of Mexico or to gain positive public relations is debatable. We do know they dished out the big bucks for this one. Here’s the BP commercial video from the NBA Finals:
It’s been six weeks since BP announced its claims policy so the message from their video is nothing new, making me think it was mostly a P.R. ploy. Between our suggestions to rename the Crosstown Cup and their status as public enemy number one, they need all the help they can get.
