Report: Josh Hamilton went to strip club, did cocaine after fight with wife
Los Angeles Angels outfielder Josh Hamilton could be facing a one-year suspension from baseball after he reportedly confessed to using drugs. Now, we have learned that problems at home may have pushed Hamilton toward his latest relapse.
According to Jeff Passan of Yahoo Sports, Hamilton confessed to using cocaine sometime around Super Bowl weekend after he had a fight with his wife. Hamilton admitted several years ago that he does not carry cash or credit cards because he can’t trust himself, so he allegedly wrote himself a check to cash. The 33-year-old then reportedly went to a strip club and relapsed.
Passan reports that Hamilton admitted to using drugs before his next drug test, which is when Major League Baseball set up a meeting with him in New York. Now, an arbitrator has been called upon to determine Hamilton’s fate and try to find the balance between treatment and discipline.
Hamilton needs help. He’s not a party boy who is out looking for a good time. He’s a full-blown addict who has now admitted to multiple relapses in the past several years. The way MLB decides to “punish” Hamilton really doesn’t seem relevant at this point.
