Mike Moustakas fired up Royals with expletive-laced speech

Mike Moustakas

The Kansas City Royals put together a memorable comeback in their Game 4 win over the Houston Astros on Monday in the ALDS, and Mike Moustakas apparently played a big role in firing up the team.

Kansas City was down 6-2 after seven innings. Houston had just exploded for three runs in the bottom of the seventh and had all the momentum, especially since they were at home. The crowd was loud, the team was six outs away from the ALCS … and they were up big four runs. It seemed like a lock.

But Moustakas wouldn’t let his team go down quietly. He apparently delivered a motivational speech full of expletives:

Moustakas actually struck out during the eighth inning rally and fouled out in the ninth, but he did score a run in the second and, more importantly, he apparently did some good work firing up his team. We’re guessing the speech went a little something like this.
