Chris Paul does not rule out joining forces with Banana Boat Boys

That little plan to reunite four of the NBA’s biggest stars keeps getting slight nods of approval from those involved.

Clippers point guard Chris Paul refused to rule out the possibility of someday joining forces with LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, and Carmelo Anthony on the same team in an appearance on the Open Run podcast.

“Anything is possible, definitely,” Paul said, via James Herbert of CBS Sports. “Anything is possible.”

Paul recalled that the relationship among the four goes back a ways.

“We’ll work out together and stuff like that sometimes in the summer,” Paul said. “Last time we did that was … right around ’08, I think, for the Olympics sometime. And D-Wade was coming off his injuries, right? And I’ll never forget it: D-Wade hit us all and was like, ‘Hey man, I need to see what it’s like to play for real.’ And we all met in Chicago. I’ll never forget that. Like, it’s crazy. For him, we went to a gym in Chicago — me, Bron, Melo did — and we played pickup with some other guys just to give him some of that real feel of what it was like. And then, I don’t know if you remember, ’08 Olympics, he went off. He went off. And it’s cool, that’s what you do for your real friends and your real brothers.”

This all started back when James made these comments about teaming up with his buddies and taking a pay cut. Could it happen? Well, yes, if all four are serious about it, but probably not anytime soon. For now, it’s little more than a fun idea that the four of them can toss around.
