Dave Joerger tears up during postgame press conference after elimination (Video)

It’s been a rather difficult season for the Memphis Grizzlies, and if you need proof of that, just look at coach Dave Joerger during the press conference following their game four loss to the San Antonio Spurs.

The Spurs swept Memphis out of the playoffs, and Joerger got emotional after the defeat when talking about his team.

“I can’t tell you enough how proud I am of every guy that is in that locker room and has come through that locker room,” a tearful Joerger told the media. “This season’s been hard. It’s been really hard. They could’ve quit. Could’ve quit, could’ve not made the playoffs. And every day they came out and they fought like crazy.”

Between trades and injuries, Joerger used 28 different players to get Memphis to the playoffs, and they got there down the stretch without the injured Marc Gasol and Mike Conley, arguably the team’s two most important players. Matt Barnes pretty much summed up the team’s dilemma after game two. There was nothing they could do in that state against a juggernaut of a Spurs team, but it’s clear they fought through a lot to even get this far, so kudos to them.
