Derrick Rose: Knicks have chance to win every game

Derrick Rose Knicks

Derrick Rose has a tremendous amount of confidence in the New York Knicks heading into next season. Some would even say he is delusional, and the point guard’s latest remarks will do nothing to quiet those critics.

In a recent feature promoting his new adidas shoes, Rose told Nick DePaula of The Vertical he is thrilled to have been traded to a city where “they love basketball and basketball is a culture there.” The 27-year-old believes he has been given an opportunity to prove he has plenty of great basketball left. But does he really think the Knicks can go undefeated?

“I feel like I’m not done. It’s a new start. I feel rejuvenated, and when you put all that together, when I step on the floor, I really don’t know what to expect,” Rose said. “What I’m doing right now is just preparing myself for something big. I think we have a chance to win every game, and in the league, that’s rare.”

In fairness, Rose had to have meant the Knicks have a chance to win each individual game, not every game. Of course you want to feel like you have a chance to win every time you step on the court. That doesn’t mean he believes 72-0 is a possibility.

Then again, remember what Rose said a few weeks back about the expectations he has for his new team? Perhaps he really is reaching for the sky.
