Coach Kobe Bryant draws up play for Andrew Bynum during Lakers win (Video)

What you see in the clip above has been going on quite a bit over the past five games. Kobe Bryant has been riding the bench for a little over a week as he nurses a shin injury, but he has hardly been a non-factor for the Lakers. With Kobe on the bench, the Lakers have won their last four games. Rather than sitting there and simply playing the role of cheerleader for the team, Bryant has become an assistant coach for Mike Brown. From the look of it, he’s an important one.

Kobe’s been spotted calling out plays and drawing things up on a clipboard during the four-game winning streak. On Sunday during a win over the Mavericks, he drew up a play for Andrew Bynum. Of course the Lakers are far better off with Kobe on the floor, but it’s become obvious over the past week or so that he has enough basketball knowledge and influence to help the team from the bench as well.
