Rockets reportedly ‘determined’ to sign Carmelo Anthony

Carmelo Anthony

The Houston Rockets could use some depth in their front court now that they have lost both Trevor Ariza and Luc Mbah a Moute in free agency, and they are reportedly aiming high to fill that need.

ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reports that the Rockets are “determined” to sign Carmelo Anthony once he parts ways with the Oklahoma City Thunder.

The Rockets are among the teams that Anthony is reportedly interested in playing for, though money could be an issue. They already signed Chris Paul to a $160 million contract this offseason. If Carmelo is really determined to play with CP3, who is his close friend, he could sign a team-friendly deal with Houston. He may be even more motivated to do that if reaches a buyout agreement with the Thunder.

Anthony is also close friends with LeBron James, so the Los Angeles Lakers are another possibility for him. However, Carmelo’s people seem to have already have had an unofficial meeting with the Rockets over the weekend.
