Scottie Pippen: 1995-96 Bulls would sweep Warriors

Scottie-Pippen

The Golden State Warriors need to win four of their last five games to set the NBA record for most wins in a single season. Even if they do, Scottie Pippen does not believe that will make the 2015-16 Warriors better than the 1995-96 Chicago Bulls.

Not even close, in fact.

During a recent interview at an AT&T event in Houston, Pippen insisted his 72-win Bulls team would sweep Golden State in a playoff series.

“Bulls in four,” Pippen said confidently, according to ESPN.com.

When asked to clarify, Pippen explained that he believes the 1995-96 Bulls were a better team and would not take a night off against the Warriors. He also believes he personally could keep Stephen Curry in check.

“I think that my size and length would bother [Curry] a little bit,” Pippen explained.

In Pippen’s defense, this Warriors team has only won one NBA championship. Those Bulls won three straight from 1996 to 1998. Golden State coach Steve Kerr won four championships in Chicago, and he says it would be very difficult to compare teams across eras. However, he doesn’t envision one team sweeping the other.

“First of all, it’s a really hard question to answer,” Kerr said. “Not just because you’re comparing eras, but literally it’s tough for me to answer, grammatically, because I don’t know who ‘we’ is and who ‘they’ are. I’ll just say if the two teams play each other, there’s no question we can beat us and they can beat them.”

Size seems to be the main argument in favor of the 1995-96 Bulls. That’s the main reason everyone’s favorite Hall of Famer and NBA analyst believes that Chicago team would “kill” Golden State.

Does it really matter? Not at all. If the Warriors break Chicago’s record and win at least one more championship, they’ll easily be considered one of the best NBA teams of all time.
