Gisele ignored Tom Brady in her Father’s Day post

June 21, 2026 by Grey Papke
FacebookTweetLinkedInRedditThreadsWhatsAppEmail

Tom Brady was getting no love from his ex-wife, even on Father’s Day.

Gisele Bundchen shared a social media post Sunday paying tribute to husband Joaquim Valente, with whom she shares a child. Her message ended with her wishing a happy Father’s Day to “all the dads out there,” but Brady was left out of the specific well-wishes.

For his part, Brady did not post anything on social media for Father’s Day. He has, however, been taking his kids to FIFA World Cup games lately.

Brady and Gisele share two children together, so the post raised some eyebrows. The two split in 2022, and while they have avoided talking about each other since, Brady has made a few cryptic posts over certain events. Brady reportedly felt Gisele had cheated on him during their marriage, though she publicly denied that while refusing to discuss any further details.

Brady’s love life remains a bit of a mystery, though he was linked to someone at the Super Bowl.

Rafael Devers was angry after Giants pinch-ran for him

June 21, 2026 by Grey Papke
FacebookTweetLinkedInRedditThreadsWhatsAppEmail

San Francisco Giants first baseman Rafael Devers tried to resist when the team tried to pinch run for him in the 9th inning of Sunday’s game.

Devers drew a walk to lead off the 9th inning of Sunday’s game against the Miami Marlins at loanDepot Park in Miami, Fla. The Giants were trailing 2-1 at the time, and opted to send in the speedier Jonah Cox to run for Devers and maximize the team’s chances of scoring the tying run.

Devers was having none of it. He initially refused to leave the base and tried to wave Cox away as he approached. The first baseman was also visibly angry once he got to the dugout.

— SF Giants on NBCS (@NBCSGiants) June 21, 2026

Presumably, Devers wanted to remain in the game so he might get to hit again if the game wound up going to extra innings. The problem, however, is that he is not known for his speed and athleticism, and the Giants needed to get to extra innings to even worry about that. They wanted a player who would not be strictly station-to-station to remain in the game.

It is highly unusual for a player to be so demonstrative when he is subbed out of a game. Devers, however, has a history of being stubborn.

Recent reports have indicated that the Giants are already open to trading Devers. At this point, perhaps Devers himself would not mind that outcome.

Dodger Stadium faced a major problem before Sunday’s game

June 21, 2026 by Grey Papke
FacebookTweetLinkedInRedditThreadsWhatsAppEmail

The Los Angeles Dodgers had a bit of a problem a few hours before the scheduled start of their game at Dodger Stadium on Sunday.

Dodger Stadium was shrouded in smoke Sunday morning due to a warehouse fire in Boyle Heights. The smoke was so thick that it was hard to see and breathe in those conditions.

The smoke from the nearby Boyle Heights warehouse fire has enshrouded Dodger Stadium in an acrid, nasty haze. Not sure I’d want to sit here and watch as a fan, much less play the game, unless conditions improve. pic.twitter.com/EyE15p8fge

— Ben Bolch (@calpostbbolch) June 21, 2026

For a time, there were genuine questions about whether the game could be played in these conditions. The Dodgers never really had to make that decision, however, as things had largely cleared by first pitch at 4:10 p.m. ET.

In honor of Father’s Day, the smoke has cleared at Dodger Stadium. pic.twitter.com/Tsg4Acn5sp

— Ben Bolch (@calpostbbolch) June 21, 2026

Indeed, the game started on time with no apparent issues for fans or players.

Dodger Stadium is not necessarily a stranger to wild weather conditions. Fortunately, the wind cooperated in this instance, because it would have been strange if the game had been impacted on what was otherwise a sunny, comfortable day.

Miles Russell had the best Father’s Day surprise for his dad

Miles Russell had an awesome gift for his dad on Father’s Day for the final round of the US Open.

Russell invited his father Joe to be his caddie for his final walk up the 18th hole at Shinnecock Hills Golf Club in Southampton, N.Y. on Sunday. He had cleared the gesture with tournament officials, and his dad did not know it was coming.

Russell’s dad introduced him to golf as a toddler, and this was the 17-year-old’s way of paying him back. This was also Russell’s first US Open, making it even more meaningful.

Russell is a two-time AJGA Player of the Year and winner of the Junior PGA Championship and Junior Players Championship, and is already one of the most highly-touted young prospects in the sport. He has committed to play golf at Florida State.

The 17-year-old finished the tournament at +7, but he managed to post an even round on Sunday to close out the tournament on a high.

Serena Williams makes decision on playing in Wimbledon

June 21, 2026 by Grey Papke

Weeks after downplaying the possibility of taking part in future tournaments as a singles player, Serena Williams is doing just that.

Williams will play at Wimbledon as a singles player, the tournament announced Sunday. She will receive a wild card entry in order to participate.

This is not a drill.@serenawilliams will compete in the 2026 ladies' singles at #Wimbledon as a wild card. pic.twitter.com/1vHnDEQ4xm

— Wimbledon (@Wimbledon) June 21, 2026

Williams had initially made her comeback earlier this month at Queen’s Club as a doubles player, but that ended after just one match when her partner suffered an injury. She also played doubles in Berlin, and she and sister Venus already had a wild card to take part in Wimbledon together, but Williams had not offered many clues about whether she would play in singles.

Williams won seven Wimbledon titles during her career. Expectations will not be quite as high for the 44-year-old here, as this will represent her first competitive singles match since the 2022 US Open. At that point, she said a comeback was unlikely, but not impossible.

The draw for Wimbledon is set for June 26. The tournament itself is scheduled to begin three days later.

Manny Machado in the dugout

Manny Machado sends warning to the rest of MLB

June 21, 2026 by Grey Papke
FacebookTweetLinkedInRedditThreadsWhatsAppEmail

Manny Machado clearly thinks he is set to turn things around after his game-winning home run against the Texas Rangers on Saturday.

Machado hit a three-run home run in the top of the tenth inning to power the San Diego Padres to a 6-4 victory at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Tex. It was a huge hit for Machado, who has struggled all season.

Despite those struggles, Machado’s confidence has clearly not wavered. After the game, he made a rather boastful claim about how much of a threat he still is at the plate.

“The homers are there; the RBIs are there. In key situations when I’m up there, you’ve still got to be afraid (as an opposing pitcher) I can do damage like I did today,” Machado said, via Dennis Lin of The Athletic. “You see those numbers up there, you see the back of my jersey, and you’re going to know who I am.”

After months of searching for answers, Machado had to feel good after a big hit. He is still hitting just .178, though he does have 13 home runs on the season. At times, he has seemingly lashed out at whatever he can just because he has not been able to turn things around at the plate.

In many ways, the Padres’ season has mimicked Machado. The team entered play Saturday just 38-36 despite high expectations at the beginning of the season. Like Machado, however, it is not too late for them to get hot.

Veteran guard CJ McCollum is staying right where he is.

McCollum is signing a one-year, $21 million contract with the Atlanta Hawks, according to Shams Charania of ESPN. The move means he will not become an unrestricted free agent this summer after all.

— Shams Charania (@ShamsCharania) June 21, 2026

McCollum’s deal also includes a trade kicker, meaning the Hawks will owe him additional money if he is traded at any point next season.

McCollum’s decision does not come as a huge shock given the success he and the Hawks had after he was acquired last year. He averaged 18.7 points per game for Atlanta in 41 games, and the Hawks went 27-14 during the regular season when he played. He was a key reason they were able to win two of the first three games of their first round series against the New York Knicks before the Knicks ultimately won in six.

The Hawks went 46-36 last season before their early exit from the playoffs. With a full season of McCollum along with their current core, the expectation will be for them to improve on that next year.

2 former NBA players have been suspended by BIG3 league

June 21, 2026 by Grey Papke
FacebookTweetLinkedInRedditThreadsWhatsAppEmail

Two former NBA players have drawn suspensions from the BIG3 league after just one game of its season.

The league announced Sunday that Lance Stephenson and Michael Beasley were both suspended one game for their actions in Saturday’s game between Miami 305 and LA Riot. Both players play for Miami, and their suspensions will be staggered to allow the team to field a full team.

“Competition drives our league. We embrace physical play and welcome trash talk, however, fighting of any kind will not be tolerated,” the league said in a statement.

Beasley and Stephenson were both ejected from Saturday’s game under wild circumstances. Beasley got into a dustup with Dwight Howard, and then Stephenson started throwing punches later in the game (video here). Both were ejected, forcing Miami to forfeit the game since they did not have enough players to continue.

Stephenson in particular has a rather famous reputation as an agitator that dates back to his NBA career. It is not exactly a shock that he would get himself involved in a situation like this, especially since he had some history with Howard dating back to last year.

Victor Wembanyama gets called out by another Knicks player

June 21, 2026 by Grey Papke
FacebookTweetLinkedInRedditThreadsWhatsAppEmail

Another New York Knicks player still has some hard feelings about Victor Wembanyama’s sportsmanship, or lack thereof, at the end of the NBA Finals.

Knicks guard Jose Alvarado said he appreciated Wembanyama’s competitiveness and understood that the San Antonio Spurs center was feeling a great deal of disappointment upon losing in the NBA Finals. He added, however, that Wembanyama’s decision to leave the court without shaking hands was “too crazy” for him.

“I got mixed emotions. I’m a competitor too, but I also stare my enemies down. I look forward to them and I shake their hand,” Alvarado said. “It’s a game. You don’t like the moment. You lost probably the biggest game of your career, but you’re going to have more moments. I feel like the way he did it was a little too crazy for me.

“I loved how he competed during the game. Obviously, people didn’t like how he was being aggressive, but we’re fighting for something. Between the lines, I feel like anything is cool. Outside the lines, shake hands and call it what it is.”

Alvarado was certainly not shy about competing with Wembanyama during the series. There is clearly a level of respect Alvarado has for him, and Alvarado sounds almost disappointed that Wembanyama did not show that same level of respect in return.

Wembanyama drew significant criticism for bolting the floor without congratulating any of his opponents after the Spurs lost Game 5 of the Finals. In contrast, Jalen Brunson was praised for immediately going to shake hands with the Spurs after winning the title. This will perhaps serve as a learning experience for Wembanyama and his teammates, but even their opponents are aware that it was a bad look for them.

1 NFL team wants to avoid Brendan Sorsby drama

June 21, 2026 by Grey Papke
FacebookTweetLinkedInRedditThreadsWhatsAppEmail

At least one NFL team is set to avoid Brendan Sorsby, largely because of the off-field drama that might come with him.

The New York Jets are expected to do their due diligence on Sorsby prior to the NFL supplemental draft, but at least one source told ESPN’s Rich Cimini that the team probably will not pursue him. The Jets are concerned about the gambling issues the quarterback has dealt with, and the team has shied away from players with character concerns in recent years.

One source told Cimini outright that the Jets probably will not pursue Sorsby because “they don’t want to deal with it.”

The Jets do not have a long-term quarterback solution on their roster, making them a viable potential landing spot for Sorsby. The fact that they are reluctant to go that route illustrates just how deep concerns about Sorsby go after he sought treatment for a gambling addiction that essentially ended his NCAA career. The Jets are not necessarily the only team that feels that way, either.

Sorsby is viewed as a second-round talent when taking his off-field issues into account. That could be a steal for any team that genuinely believes he could be a franchise quarterback, but it would be a very risky move. It is a risk the Jets, at minimum, appear wary of taking.

Ronda Rousey mocks UFC White House viewership numbers

June 21, 2026 by Dan Benton

Ronda Rousey and Jake Paul took aim at the UFC following the release of viewership figures for its historic Freedom 250 event at the White House.

The card, held on the South Lawn as part of the nation’s 250th anniversary celebrations, averaged 7 million viewers in the U.S. on Paramount+, according to Nielsen and Adobe Analytics data. Including Latin America, it reached 8.2 million on average with 17 million unique viewers.

This fell short of the numbers posted by Most Valuable Promotions’ debut MMA event in May, where Rousey submitted Gina Carano via armbar in just 17 seconds. That Netflix broadcast averaged 9.3 million U.S. viewers and peaked near 17 million globally.

Rousey responded pointedly to UFC chief business officer Hunter Campbell: “Lmao! Kiss my (expletive) Hunter Campbell.”

Despite the viewership edge for MVP, the UFC Freedom 250 delivered a stronger overall card, highlighted by competitive bouts and Justin Gaethje’s upset lightweight title victory over Ilia Topuria. The Rousey-Carono main event, while drawing massive interest, ended quickly in a one-sided finish.

Both events underscored MMA’s growing mainstream appeal.

The 35-year-old winger, acquired from the Philadelphia Flyers via trade in March, had been set to become an unrestricted free agent on July 1. He agreed to remain with the team through the 2027-28 season on a $1.75 million contract with an $875,000 average annual value.

Drafted by the Los Angeles Kings in the third round in 2009, Deslauriers has appeared in 708 regular-season games with six NHL clubs, tallying 53 goals and 53 assists. He played 31 games last season and saw limited playoff action in one contest during Carolina’s championship run.

Tulsky noted that Deslauriers fit into the locker room and culture from day one, bringing a veteran presence and physical element to the roster.

“Nic has fit in with our locker room and culture from day one when he got to Raleigh,” Tulsky said in a press release, via NHL.com. “He provides a veteran presence and adds a physical element to our roster.”

After signing, Deslauriers high-fived a teammate and shouted to fans, “Two more (expletive) years!”

Unflattering report emerges about Myles Garrett

June 21, 2026 by Renzo Pocholo Salao
FacebookTweetLinkedInRedditThreadsWhatsAppEmail

Myles Garrett reportedly wasn’t the universally beloved figure that he seemed to be within the Cleveland Browns organization.

Garrett was a true fan favorite as he terrorized opposing offenses for the Browns in nine seasons. But according to Cleveland.com’s Mary Kay Cabot, Garrett wasn’t a true “unifier” for the team relative to his on-field impact.

Garrett was reportedly “respected and revered” but “wasn’t necessarily universally beloved” by everyone on the roster. Garrett was said to have stuck to a “tight inner circle” when outside the team facility.

Cabot added that third-year linebacker Jared Verse, who was the centerpiece in the Los Angeles trade package for Garrett, is expected to be “more of a force multiplier” than his predecessor.

Garrett may not reportedly have Verse’s magnetic personality, but the veteran’s play on the field was never in question. Garrett accumulated five first-team All-Pro nods and two Defensive Player of the Year awards. Most fans would take that type of production over a locker room unifier any day.

Ironically, Verse may have already caused some friction with one of his new teammates. The Florida State alum was spotted wearing Dillon Gabriel’s No. 8 jersey and is set to take the quarterback’s number next season.

A fan mistook Jared McCain for Dylan Harper, and the interaction went about as well as anyone would have expected.

The Oklahoma City Thunder guard was recently spotted walking down a sidewalk with his best friend Nate, when a fan stopped him to ask an important question: was he Dylan Harper? The fan yelled at McCain from her vehicle.

Fan: “Wait, wait! Are you Dylan Harper? Are you Dylan Harper?

McCain: “Oh my god, yes! I’m Dylan!”

“I’m Dylan”

— Overtime (@overtime) June 20, 2026

In all fairness to the fan, McCain and Harper share similar builds and hairstyles. Both have light skin and have some Filipino blood as well. It’s far from the most egregious case of mistaken identity out there.

But given the rivalry between the Thunder and the San Antonio Spurs, the fan may have her Spurs fandom card revoked for not knowing the difference between the two. Victor Wembanyama was even suspected of having put a hit out on McCain at the end of Game 5 of the Western Conference semifinals.

McCain, to no one’s surprise, played into the moment rather than embarrass the fan. McCain wouldn’t even ding Daryl Morey for trading him to the Thunder. He was never going to take offense to a fan mistaking him for another player — even a Spurs rival.

1 player is expected to be the odd man out on the Lakers in free agency

June 20, 2026 by Darryn Albert
FacebookTweetLinkedInRedditThreadsWhatsAppEmail

The Los Angeles Lakers might only be able to return four of their five starters from last season.

Lakers forward Rui Hachimura could potentially be the odd man out for the team in free agency this offseason, Dave McMenamin of ESPN reported this week. McMenamin adds that Hachimura may need to explore the market in order to find a desired deal.

Additionally, McMenamin notes that the Lakers have interest in re-signing both guard Marcus Smart and sharpshooter Luke Kennard (which could come at the cost of Hachimura). You can read McMenamin’s full report on the situation here.

Hachimura, 28, just completed his third season with the Lakers and averaged 11.5 points and 3.3 rebounds per game during the regular season. But he came on strong during the playoffs and averaged 17.5 points and 4.0 rebounds per game while starting in every single game for L.A.

The ex-lottery pick Hachimura is a strong, efficient jump shooter who also brings plenty of defensive versatility at 6-foot-8. But now an unrestricted free agent this summer, Hachimura may have played himself out of the range where the Lakers would financially be able to retain him.

On top of that, the Lakers have some other big priorities this offseason, including trying to bring back both Austin Reaves and LeBron James and attempting to meet Luka Doncic’s ultimatum for them to add an impact center (such as this recently-rumored target). That means Hachimura is low on the team’s agenda and might have to look elsewhere in order to get paid commensurate to his true market value.

Pirates manager charges umpires after controversial finish vs. Rockies

June 20, 2026 by Renzo Pocholo Salao

The Pittsburgh Pirates had a game-tying RBI taken away in crushing fashion Saturday night against the Colorado Rockies.

The Pirates trailed the Rockies 2-1 in the top of the 9th inning at Coors Field in Denver, Colo. Jake Mangum came up to the plate with the bases loaded and two outs against Rockies reliever Jaden Hill.

After fouling off a couple of 1-2 pitches, Mangum put the ball in play toward Colorado third baseman Kyle Karros. What appeared to be a routine play turned sideways as Karros never even got a throw off.

Karros immediately asked for a review. Umpires ruled that Billy Cook, who came in to pinch run for Bryan Reynolds earlier in the inning, had nicked Karros’ glove as her ran toward third. The Rockies won on a late interference on the basepaths call.

17-year-old Angels prospect steals 8 bases in a single game

The Los Angeles Angels are once again the Bad News Bears of Major League Baseball, but salvation might only be a few short years away.

Juan Cespedes, a 17-year-old prospect in the Angels organization, made headlines on Saturday with a generational feat on the basepaths. While playing in the Dominican Summer League (DSL), Cespedes stole a whopping eight bases in a single game.

Per the official Angels Player Development page on X, that is the highest-single game total in all of recorded Major or Minor League Baseball history. Here is the footage of all eight of Cespedes’ steals from the game.

Angels prospect Juan Cespedes steals 8 bases in a single game for the DSL Angels pic.twitter.com/eG1oa8tPID

— AngelsMiLB (@AngelsMiLB) June 20, 2026

Cespedes is a 5-foot-10 shortstop who bats lefty. He signed a minor-league contract with the Angels in January of this year and is now playing at the rookie-league level in the DSL.

Overall on the year, Cespedes now has 25 stolen bases and just two times caught stealing through 13 total games in the DSL. He is also batting .395 with an impressive .974 OPS over that span.

While the inherently incomplete nature of game-by-game Minor League scorekeeping makes it virtually impossible to know definitively whether Cespedes actually set an all-time record, his single-game accomplishment this week is no less impressive. The MLB Angels may be continuing to create new lows for themselves this season, but some reinforcements might be on the way in the form of the teenage phenom Cespedes (at least come 2030 or so).

Luguentz Dort looking on

Notable update emerges about Luguentz Dort’s future

June 20, 2026 by Darryn Albert
FacebookTweetLinkedInRedditThreadsWhatsAppEmail

There appears to be some good news and bad news for Oklahoma City Thunder forward Luguentz Dort.

The Thunder are expected to pick up their $17.2 million team option for next season on the veteran Dort, Michael Scotto of HoopsHype reported on Saturday. Scotto notes however that Oklahoma City is then expected to consider flipping Dort on the trade market.

Dort, 27, is tied with Shai Gilgeous-Alexander for the longest-tenured player on the Thunder (since 2019). A former First Team All-Defensive selection, Dort’s hard-nosed 3-and-D skillset was crucial in helping OKC win the 2025 NBA championship (though Dort has also come under fire for his allegedly dirty style of play).

The Thunder, who lost in this year’s Western Conference Finals to the San Antonio Spurs, already have three massive contracts on their books with Gilgeous-Alexander, Jalen Williams, and Chet Holmgren. That means they need to be somewhat tight-fisted with the rest of their roster, and that is where role players like Dort come in.

Earlier this month, we learned that OKC was very likely to keep one other key member of their frontcourt heading into the 2026-27 season. As such, Dort’s $17.2 million team option for next season is the most logical place for them to do so trimming from there.

The reigning back-to-back MVP Gilgeous-Alexander does really seem to want Dort back on the Thunder roster next season. But picking up Dort’s team option to ensure he gets paid and then flipping him for a potentially younger and more cost-controlled asset might represent the best outcome for all parties involved here.

Timberwolves appear to drop a big trade hint before the 2026 NBA Draft

June 20, 2026 by Rex Villas
FacebookTweetLinkedInRedditThreadsWhatsAppEmail

The Minnesota Timberwolves have made deep playoff runs over the last three seasons but have been unable to get over the hump.

After back-to-back Western Conference Finals appearances, they took a step back and were eliminated in the second round of the 2026 NBA Playoffs.

The upcoming 2026 NBA Draft gives Minnesota an opportunity to add a potential game-changing talent to run alongside star Anthony Edwards in the backcourt. However, with the No. 28 pick in the first round, the Timberwolves may need to trade up to land a guard they appear to be targeting.

Minnesota hosted Alabama Crimson Tide guard Labaron Philon Jr. for a workout on Saturday, a possible sign the Timberwolves are looking to make a move to improve their draft position to select him, according to Chris Hine of The Minnesota Star Tribune.

“Philon’s workout is an indication the Wolves are canvassing their options in terms of moving up from No. 28 in the first round,” Hine wrote.

“The last time the Wolves moved up in the draft for a guard, they did so in a major way two years ago. They didn’t have a first-round pick and instead traded a 2031 unprotected first-rounder and a 2030 pick swap to the Spurs to get Rob Dillingham at No. 8.”

In two seasons with the Crimson Tide, Philon averaged 16.0 points, 4.4 assists and 3.4 rebounds, while shooting 36.7 percent from deep.

The Timberwolves need to address their backcourt situation in the offseason, especially with Ayo Dosunmu entering free agency.
