Johnny Manziel reportedly apologized over Manning Passing Academy departure

Johnny ManzielJohnny Manziel left the Manning Passing Academy in Thibodaux, La. where he was a coach/counselor early last weekend, and the Heisman Trophy winner apologized to his Texas A&M coaches for whatever led to the departure, ESPN reports.

Rumors and Rants reported on Saturday evening that Manziel was sent home from the academy by Archie Manning after showing up tardy for Saturday’s activities. Rumors and Rants says Manziel was partying too hard on Friday night and didn’t report back to the site of the camp at Nicholls State University until noon Saturday after already missing some meetings.

Though Manning camp officials confirmed Manziel’s departure, they said it was because the A&M QB was sick.

ESPN’s Joe Schad says Manziel apologized to the A&M coaching staff about his early departure from the camp. Schad also says a source told him Manziel was “very upset” as he left the camp and conceded he still needs to mature.

People on social media indicated that Manziel was out and about in College Station Saturday night despite leaving the camp because he was supposedly sick. Manziel’s father told Kate Hairopoulos of the Dallas Morning News that his son was recovering Sunday from dehydration.

After hearing this report from Schad, it would be pretty foolish to dismiss the report from Rumors and Rants. If Manziel just happened to get sick, why would he be apologetic to the A&M coaching staff? And what would maturity have to do with it? Dismiss the multiple reports about Manziel’s behavior all you want, but it’s clear the guy still needs to learn some better judgment.
