Thieves return stolen Nick Saban cutout
Two men returned a Coca-Cola cardboard cutout of Alabama football coach Nick Saban to a convenience store on Thursday after learning they were wanted by police for stealing it a day earlier.
The Tuscaloosa News reports that two men went into the BP gas station nearby the University of Alabama campus early Wednesday morning and stole the cutout. One of the men held the door open while the other picked it up and walked out with it when the cashier wasn’t looking.
The Tuscaloosa News says the men returned the cutout to the store on Thursday after reading reports online saying police were searching for them. They also reportedly apologized to the store owner.
“I’m glad to have it back,” store owner Jay Rupani said. “This is our pride — it’s Nick Saban.”
What could the men possibly have wanted with the cutout? Maybe it was done on a dare, because that does make for a pretty sweet souvenir.
In the scheme of things, this was nothing. When it comes to Nick Saban cutouts and statues, we’ve seen much worse.
