Antonio Cromartie’s wife reportedly faked suicide attempt because she thought he was cheating
Antonio Cromartie found himself in the most frightening of positions last year when in Miami he reportedly received word from his then-seven months pregnant wife that she tried to end her life. But all Terricka Cason Cromartie wanted to do was send a message to her husband, whom she assumed was cheating on her, when she allegedly sent these terrifying early-morning texts to him on May 6, 2011:
“God forgive me, I don’t want to die. What have I done?”
“I cut my wrists. I took those pills.”
The Jets cornerback immediately called the Randolph Township (N.J.) police, which knocked down the doors at the Cromarties’ home only to find Terricka and her two daughters safe and sound. She admitted to cops that she faked the whole ordeal because she believed Antonio, baby-daddy extraordinaire, wasn’t being faithful.
“She stated that she had no intention of going through with the act,” the police report said, according to the New York Post. “She said she was exercising her First Amendment right to free speech and could say whatever she wanted.”
Police told Terricka that she needed to undergo a mandatory psychiatric evaluation, but she refused and became “belligerent, uncooperative, irrational and argumentative,” citing that there wasn’t anybody to look after her kids. A child-protection agency temporarily assumed custody of the girls while Terricka underwent her examination.
Terricka made no direct mention on her Twitter page Sunday of the Post’s story, but did send out this rather cryptic tweet:

Her suicide con wasn’t the first instance we know of where she intentionally tried to mislead people. So, we especially enjoy the irony of her telling people not to believe what they hear.
