Dolphins Already Have the ‘Here we Go Again’ Losing Attitude

The Miami Dolphins are 0-2 while the rest of the AFC East is 2-0. Things actually didn’t look that bad for the Dolphins when the season started out. They were tied 14-14 with the Patriots in the third quarter of Monday Night Football, and they were down just 21-17 towards the end of the third. But that’s when things got out of hand.

The Patriots reeled off three straight scoring drives, including a record-tying 99-yard touchdown pass to Wes Welker that got Benny Sapp fired. What was a close game turned into a blowout, and that resulted in some players having a “here we go again” attitude. That’s something the veterans are trying to change.

“The coaching staff is not the problem. The problem is us as players,” safety Yeremiah Bell said, according to The Palm Beach Post. “We need to be more focused in practice, and not allow some of the things that have been going on in practice.”

The Post adds that veterans Jason Taylor and Bell called out teammates for exhibiting a “here we go again” mentality during losses.

A big part of football is players’ mentality. In order to win games, you need to have confidence — you need to believe you can win. But if you’re used to failure, you begin to develop a losing attitude. That’s something the Dolphins are trying to change, and having a quarterback on offense who can consistently lead the team to victory would go a long way towards correcting the team’s overall mentality.
