ESPN’s Ed Werder makes a fat joke about Andy Reid
On Thursday, a surprise report surfaced that Andy Reid was close to becoming the next head coach of the Kansas City Chiefs. Considering there were reports that he had all but been hired by the Arizona Cardinals earlier this week, the news was somewhat unexpected. According to ESPN, Reid reached an agreement to become the Chiefs coach on Friday and the deal is in the process of being finalized.
In discussing the news on SportsCenter, ESPN’s Ed Werder took the opportunity to make a fat joke about the former Phildelphia Eagles head coach.
“Chiefs owner Clark Hunt and his delegation, that includes GM Scott Pioli, has actually left Philadelphia and returned to Kansas City without Andy Reid in tow,” Werder explained. “Now, I don’t know if that’s because Andy Reid might put the plane over its weight limit, but there’s no apparent breakdown in the deal. The expectation is still that Andy Reid is going to be the next head coach of the Kansas City Chiefs.”
Come on, man. It’s bad enough that Reid has to hear fat jokes from Michael Vick’s younger brother, but now the World Wide Leader? In typical ESPN fashion, you can fully expect a half-hearted apology at some point over the course of the day.
