Former Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice and his wife Janay are working through their marital issues. That is their business, but if you think Janay calling Ray the “best husband in the world” is overkill, you certainly aren’t alone.
Janay celebrated her 27th birthday on Wednesday, and Ray surprised her with a custom birthday cake — which looked like a Chanel handbag — and a dinner with family and friends. Janay was overwhelmed by the kindness, and she shared her feelings on Instagram.
“Ok first off I literally have the best husband in the world, he went above and beyond to make my birthday special,” she wrote along with the collage you see above. “He ended the day with a surprise dinner party with my family & friends. I can’t thank @mrcheffito for the amazing menu, dinner was wonderful!!! Also to @pro_cakes for my Chanel bag birthday cake, it was definitely a cake perfect for me and of course sooo yummy!!!”
As expected, the social media world did not react favorably to the post. Tweets about Ray knocking Janay unconscious in a casino elevator immediately began flooding the internet, which the couple probably expected.
Perhaps Rice will be a new man in the wake of his terrible mistake. But calling someone the “best husband in the world” less than a year after he did this to you seems a bit over the top.
In related news, Rice settled his grievance with the Ravens that stemmed from the team releasing him. The team has agreed to pay him $3.5 million.
