Jarryd Hayne lowers the boom on poor Chargers defender (Video)

Jarryd Hayne

Jarryd Hayne hasn’t even played in a regular season NFL game, yet he is already my favorite player in the league.

The Aussie showed off the moves that made him a rugby star in his native country when he absolutely trucked an unsuspecting Chargers defender during a run in the third quarter of Thursday’s preseason game:

Hayne led the 49ers with 58 yards on 10 carries and added 17 yards on two catches. One of the catches came on the play seen above where he took a screen pass on second and long and bulldozed Lowell Rose at the end of the play. Hayne also returned three punts for 14 yards, which is actually poor given his standards.

Hayne is an absolute natural with the ball in his hands. He moves more north-south than east-west on the field, he has natural vision, great cutting ability, a vicious stiffarm, and he truly is a master when it comes to shifting the ball to the proper arm when he is toting the rock. He is a real talent, and the 49ers made an excellent discovery with him. He might be their best offensive weapon this season, and I can’t wait to watch him play. This guy is a stud.
