Justin Tuck to sign one-day contract with Giants

Justin Tuck may have officially played his last game in a New York Giants uniform, but the defensive end is still planning to retire as a member of the organization.

Tuck revealed in a webcast on Giants.com Thursday that he is going to sign a one-day contract so he can finish his career where it started.

“One question we didn’t get asked that I’ve seen a lot of Giants fans Tweet me is ‘Am I going to do a one-day contract with the Giants?’” Tuck said, via Ralph Vacchiano of the New York Daily News. “The answer to that is ‘Yes.’ We can’t do it yet because the league (year) doesn’t open until the second week of March. So for all the Giants fans out there asking me ‘Am I going to retire a Giant?’ Absolutely I am.”

Tuck racked up 60.5 sacks during nine seasons with the Giants. You could also argue that he was the No. 1 reason the Giants were able to stop Tom Brady and the New England Patriots and beat them twice in the Super Bowl. Tuck proudly reminded fans of that last year.

When Tuck signed a two-year, $11 million contract with the Raiders after the 2013 season, he seemed irritated that the Giants weren’t willing to offer more than other teams to bring him back. Any hard feelings have clearly subsided, and that is hardly a surprise when you read some of the things Tuck said about his former coach.
