Report: Aqib Talib could be suspended as many as 8 games

Aqib Talib

Denver Broncos cornerback Aqib Talib returned to practice on Monday for the first time since suffering a gunshot wound to the leg, but can the team expect him to be on the field come Week 1?

That may not be in Talib’s control.

In an appearance on 104.3 The Fan’s “The Drive with Big Al and DMac” Monday, ESPN’s Adam Schefter spoke about the real possibility that Talib could be suspended.

“I remember initially speaking to somebody, and we were discussing the situation. And we were discussing it in a hypothetical way, because we do not know the exact facts of the situation,” Schefter said. “It’s a mystery. But the person I was talking to said, ‘I don’t see how this is less than eight games.’”

Schefter clarified that he was only sharing the opinion of one “knowledgable” person, but he seems to believe some sort of suspension is forthcoming. Even if no charges are filed against Talib, he can still be disciplined under the NFL’s personal player conduct policy.

It’s still very unclear what happened the night Talib was shot in the leg back in June. He reportedly told police he was too drunk to remember the details of the incident. There is one theory that is being floated around that would be extremely embarrassing if true.
