A six-year-old fan sent Brandon Jacobs $3.36 to re-sign with Giants

Brandon Jacobs signed with the 49ers in the offseason after spending his entire career with the Giants. One six-year-old Giants fan was so sad to see him go, he sent Jacobs $3.36 to convince him to re-sign with the team after being told that the defending Super Bowl champs couldn’t afford to keep him.

The fan letter was sent to Jacobs by the six-year-old’s mother, on behalf of her son. This was his message to Jacobs:

Dear Mr. Jacobs,

So you could go to the Giants, here is my money.

Love, Joe.

Naturally, Jacobs was touched by the letter. He sent the following tweets:

And once again we’ve seen that young fans are often the best. Well, unless they’re Eagles fans.

I hope this is a genuine attempt by a child and not some childish adult with too much time on their hands. If this really is a kid that did this, then it’s rather touching. I hope Big Jake (Brandon Jacobs) does pay this kid a visit; at least give him a childhood memory of being shown consideration and respect by one of his heroes. Kids need to be shown the kindness and beauty that IS in this world. This helps them to learn about these traits, emulate them, and pay it forward. That’s the best way to proactively fix our society; teach your children what is right and do so well.

Na!  I believe he is sincere, & is about the coolest sports story I have heard lately. With another potential lock-out, & the bounty scandal, players dying from brain trauma; whether it is hurting themselves, or just dying prematurely, this story is very nice… the honesty, & innocence is very much appreciated.

Mr. Jacobs,  please go see little Joe, that would be so cool!

No – tell the kid his money will be used on cocaine and crack for the other Giants players.  Next time, give his money to the Cowboys for Mike Jenkins.

This story is sweet but also is a sign of the times.  MONEY TALKS in pro sports, especially the NFL. Maybe I’m old but I remember when players  were with the same team from start to finish. Now its become BIG business. Huge signing bonuses, exorbitant contracts, hold-outs and lock-outs. I love the game but it does give our kids the idea that its all about the money. Really pretty sad. It seems like little Joe is a sweet kid who just wants to see his players play. Me too.

I would actually pay the kid a visit & give him an autographed football of something & then frame the money and note & use it as motivation.
