Tim Tebow Not Offended by Stephen Tulloch Tebowing Over Him

I’m not usually one to say I told you so, but I told you so.  Last weekend when the Lions dominated the Broncos in Denver, we showed you a picture of Detroit linebacker Stephen Tulloch Tebowing on Tim Tebow after sacking him late in the first quarter.  Since Tebowing originated from the way Tebow drops down to one knee and prays, I was pretty confident someone would end up crying that Tulloch was disrespecting Tebow’s faith by doing that over him.  Enter ESPN’s Jemele Hill, who decided to go there in her Tuesday column.

In response to Hill’s article, Tulloch tweeted that football is a form of entertainment and assured people he wasn’t mocking God.  Of course he wasn’t.  We all knew that.  Still, it’s tough to prevent an opportunist from taking a story idea and running with it.  As for Timmy himself, he did what Tebow always does when asked about the incident and said all the right things.

“He was just celebrating, having fun with his teammates and I don’t take offense to that,” Tebow said according to the Washington Post via Shutdown Corner. “I was bothered that I gave up a sack and that I didn’t break the tackle. That bothered me.”

Score another one for Tebowmania.  I highly doubt he’s just saying it, either.  Anyone with half a brain and a little common sense knows that Tulloch was just having fun with the latest craze and didn’t mean any disrespect by it.  This was a perfect opportunity for Tebow to act like he’s better than everyone else because of his beliefs and lifestyle, but of course he would never go there.  That’s why he’s Tim Tebow.
