Tom Brady wishes Gisele hadn’t criticized Wes Welker after Super Bowl

Tom Brady’s wife, supermodel Gisele Bundchen, received a lot of negative attention for criticizing the Patriots’ receivers after the team lost the Super Bowl. The matter dragged out for a few days, and reports said the Patriots players weren’t happy with her.

Several months later, we’re learning that Tom Brady wasn’t happy with her either, no surprise.

Tom Curran of Comcast New England wrote on Friday about a story told to him by Comcast Bay Area reporter Matt Maiocco.

Apparently Brady addressed the Gisele incident at a panel a few months ago.

“Just before she goes to bed, she says, ‘Yeah, people were following me and I just said something I shouldn’t have said,’” Brady recalled, according to the report.

He answered, “‘I don’t care really what you said. Just go to bed.’”

“I woke up the next morning, I tapped her on the shoulder [and asked], ‘Why did you say that?’ She was talking about the best player on our team, Wes Welker, yeah. That was my most recent memory.”

As if losing the Super Bowl in heartbreaking fashion wasn’t enough, Brady had to deal with that mess. Things between Gisele and Welker (and presumably Tom) reportedly are cool now, but that video will likely linger.

“As if losing the Super Bowl in heartbreaking fashion wasn’t enough, Brady had to deal with that mess.” Yes! Because how dare the woman be heard and not simply seen! What absolutely BS…

Give me a break, the reporters were being jerks, and she said what she believed at the time, she wasn’t dissing the receivers as much as protecting her husband. Its been many a year since women were supposed to be seen and not heard, so get over it, it ain’t gonna happen.

“Because how dare the woman be heard and not simply seen!” Agree 100% but when a stupid, offhanded remark like that makes your life “at work” awkward for a while…

But Im curious – if Tom had said something disparaging about one of Giselles modeling friends, like “that woman should eat something” what would you have said then?

Theyre not being negative because shes a woman and shouldnt be offering her opinion, theyre being negative cause it was a stupid move to offer it like that with all that press around.

Yes but in “protecting her husband” she STILL dissed the receiver. And give me a break with the whole “Its been many a year since women were supposed to be seen and not heard” crap – as I stated above….

Youre just as bad as the people who, when someone makes a negative comment about a person in a video who HAPPENS to be black, immediately plays the racist card

She got the negative press cause it was a STUPID THING TO SAY.

This is all about nothing.  If what Gisele said is causing so much strife in their marriage, they need counseling.

Well that particular comment from Brady would be at issue for all sorts of different reasons. Many of them involving body image and women.

However, more to you point she did not say this to the press. She was responding to hecklers. Also, that comment from the article is not particularly bad but much of the attacks on Gisele afterward were rife with sexism and exactly because she was a woman and as Brandon Jacobs stupidly put it “should just shut up and be pretty”.

And if Tom Brady made that same comment, not to reporters but just to someone from the public and was overheard  (and recorded) by someone else and uploaded to the web? What would you say/think then?

Dont get me wrong, I was raised by a house full of women and have HUGE respect for them but this was a case of saying something that she really shouldnt have. Yes it wasnt to reporters but in this day and age, especially when youre a celebrity (or related to one) you have to be very careful cause it can (and will) be heard or caught on video

I also agree that some of the comments made by the sports media were pretty bad – knuckle draggers still exist I guess
