European Ryder Cup team honors Seve Ballesteros with logo on bags (Picture)
Europe’s Ryder Cup team is honoring the late Seve Ballesteros by placing a logo of him on their golf bags.
A silhouette of Ballesteros celebrating his 1984 win at The Open Championship is seen at the top of every golf bag (seen above on Graeme McDowell’s bag). The silhouette of Ballesteros is an iconic image of the golfer taken after he holed a putt on 18 at St. Andrews to win the tournament — his fourth of five career majors. In his autobiography, Ballesteros called it the happiest moment of his life.
“This was the happiest moment of my whole sporting life,” Ballesteros said. “My moment of glory, my most fantastic shot. So much so that picture of me gesturing in triumph is now the logo of my companies.”
The three-time European Player of the Year winner and World Golf Hall of Fame member died last May because of brain cancer.
McDowell and fellow Ryder Cup player Ian Poulter expressed their satisfaction with the bags over Twitter:
Some of my most prized possessions are my Ryder cupgolf bags. Our bag this year has a little touch of class..#RIPseve moby.to/5rk9cj
