A high school basketball coach in Pennsylvania reportedly was removed from the end of his school’s game after allegedly headbutting a referee, causing the official to fall to the floor.

Jerry Devine, who is an algebra and history teacher at Neshaminy High School in Pennsylvania, allegedly headbutted an official in the face during the final minute of his team’s 49-42 loss to Pennsbury High School Tuesday night.

City of Basketball Love uploaded footage of the act to YouTube. They say it is a cell phone recording of game footage:

CoBL adds more about the incident:

Multiple sources in attendance tell CoBL that the video shows action with under 30 seconds left in the game, when a Neshaminy player was called for a charge after going in for a layup that could have made it a 3-point game, at which point Devine lost his cool.

Devine has been the coach at Neshaminy for 10 years. According to MaxPreps, his team is now 1-7 on the season.

Two high school football players in Texas were suspended for this dirty hit on a referee during a September game. Given that this is a coach, the punishment will likely be even more severe.
