Nate Diaz defeated Conor McGregor in the second round at UFC 196 on Saturday night Las Vegas, shocking everyone in the process.
Diaz was getting crushed by McGregor and looked like he was about to lose midway through the second. McGregor was pounding him in the first and throughout the second, but then he got cocky and backed away. It was at that point that Diaz came on strong with a second wind and began doing tons of damage. He had McGregor up against the cage and was pounding away. They finally went to the ground for the first time and that’s when Diaz locked in a choke to submit McGregor.
The win marked Diaz’s 11th finish in the UFC. Not bad for a fill-in!
