Andrew McCutchen makes young Pirates fans’ day at end of game (Video)

Andrew McCutchen fans

One of the best moments from MLB on Saturday did not happen during an actual game. No, this one occurred right after one finished.

After Mark Melancon closed out a 5-2 win for the Pittsburgh Pirates against the San Diego Padres, center fielder Andrew McCutchen located some fans in the outfield seats and ran over to them. There were two young Pirates fans along with what appeared to be their mother and father, and they were preparing to raise their Jolly Roger flag when they spotted McCutchen. Cutch came over, gave one of the boys his batting glove along with a few fist pounds:

The reaction from the young boys along with the presumed father, who happened to be wearing a McCutchen T-shirt, was awesome.

You could tell that making plans to go watch their favorite player play the Padres when they were in town was a huge deal to these fans. Cutch recognized that and just made himself some fans for life with that cool gesture.

It’s pretty cool when you think about it that McCutchen came from this trailer park and now he’s a beloved figure for so many young fans. Of all people in baseball to idolize, he’s a good one to pick.
