Matt Kemp reportedly has arthritis in both hips; trade being held up
The San Diego Padres have yet to complete their trade with the Los Angeles Dodgers for star outfielder Matt Kemp, and that may be because the 30-year-old has failed his physical.
Bob Nightengale of USA Today reports that the Padres are consulting medical experts after Kemp’s physical revealed he has a problem with both of his hips.
The holdup in Matt Kemp trade is because the physical revealed arthritis in both hips. The #Padres continue to consult medical experts.

The deal for Kemp was agreed upon over a week ago. On Wednesday, the Padres completed another big deal that saw them acquire Will Meyers from the Tampa Bay Rays in a three-team trade with the Nationals. Was that move made because the Kemp trade is falling through?
Nightengale noted that the arthritis has been described as “severe,” so it doesn’t sound like this is a minor issue.
After appearing in 161 games during an MVP-caliber season in 2011, Kemp was limited to 106 games in 2012 and just 73 in 2013. He played in 150 games last season and finally appeared healthy again.
