Mets give Derek Jeter subway tile mosaic, donate $22,222 to his foundation
Assuming the New York Mets and New York Yankees don’t meet in the World Series, Derek Jeter played in the last subway series game of his storied career on Thursday night. Before playing in his final game at Citi Field, Jeter added a unique gift to his growing collection.
The Mets presented the Yankee captain with a No. 2 subway tile mosaic to represent — well, you get it. The team also donated $22,222.22 to Jeter’s Turn 2 Foundation.
Like Mariano Rivera, Jeter is being showered in unique gifts as he continues on his farewell tour around the league. Last month, the Houston Astros presented him with customized golf clubs and pinstripe cowboy boots. The Los Angeles Angels also gave him a personalized paddleboard last week. Jeter’s going to need a room in his mansion dedicated to all this stuff.
