Nationals now featuring player Twitter handles on the scoreboard (Picture)

If by now you are not convinced that Twitter is taking over the world, there must be no convincing you. Before long, high school students will be writing @ResearchPapers with #Hashtags in them and still earning #QualityGrades. It sounds crazy, but that’s the direction we seem to be heading and the Washington Nationals are embracing it. As James Wagner of the Washington Post pointed out and the great Dan Steinberg confirmed, the Nationals have started showing players’ Twitter handles on the center field scoreboard when they come to bat at Nationals Park.

That’s right, knowing where you can go to follow your favorite player or send them a tweet is now included in the same block of information as their weight, height, date of birth, and birthplace. Take that, NBA t-shirts with players’ Twitter handles. Bonehead tweets have been known to cause a major stir, but apparently the Nationals are not concerned about that. Either they trust their players enough, or they’re looking to build their brand any way possible.
