Atlanta Braves outfielder Ronald Acuna Jr.’s season-ending injury was crushing news not just for him, but for his teammates. That includes second baseman Ozzie Albies, who is particularly close to Acuna.

Albies had a heartbreaking reaction to Acuna’s torn ACL, admitting that he was simply “broken” over the news.

“Broken,” Albies said, via David O’Brien of The Athletic. “For him to go through this again, I know it’s hard. It’s not something easy. I’ve been hurt myself, so I know how it feels. It’s tough. And I know he’s just got to keep his mind ready and strong and do his rehab so he can be back next year, stronger than ever.

“You lost one of the big pieces of the team. All we can do is go win it all for him.”

Albies is probably summing up how all the Braves feel. They have no choice but to forge ahead without Acuna, but the news is undoubtedly shattering. Acuna’s own reaction was perhaps even more crushing.

This is Acuna’s second ACL tear since 2021. He was batting .250 with 16 stolen bases this season before the injury.
