
Yordano Ventura showed his support for countryman Oscar Taveras by writing visible messages on his hat and cleats for Game 6 of the World Series on Tuesday.
Taveras, a 22-year-old prospect from the St. Louis Cardinals organization, tragically died on Sunday after crashing his car in the Dominican Republic. His 19-year-old girlfriend was a passenger and also died in the crash.
Ventura and Taveras did not know each other in the Dominican, but they became friends while playing in the minor leagues together. Ventura had plans to spend time with Taveras during the offseason and said he was dedicating his Game 6 start to his friend.
