Anonymous Warriors player says Gordon Hayward is ‘liability’ to Celtics
Gordon Hayward had one of his worst games of the season in a loss to the Golden State Warriors on Saturday, and it’s prompting one Warriors player to question his current worth to the Boston Celtics.
The veteran swingman missed all five of his shots from the field in Boston’s 115-111 defeat, finishing with a mere two points in 22 minutes of action. After the game, an anonymous Warrior gave a harsh opinion on Hayward to Jeff Goodman of CLNS Media Network.
“I talked to somebody in the Warriors locker room, a player, who said, ‘Listen, Gordon Hayward is not Gordon Hayward right now,” said Goodman on The Garden Report. “He’s hurting them. He’s a liability on both ends of the court.'”
The former All-Star Hayward, who is about 15 months removed from a broken tibia and dislocated ankle in his left leg that sidelined him for the entire 2017-18 campaign, has not looked his best so far this season. He is now averaging a scant 10.8 points per game on a near-career-low 42.0 percent shooting.
Some of Hayward’s teammates have expressed frustration at his passive play, but it is clear he is not himself right now and may not be for a while longer.
