Report: Bradley Beal would be easier to trade than John Wall

Bradley Beal

The Washington Wizards have been one of the most disappointing teams in the NBA this season, and they appear ready to make some changes.

A report last week said the Wizards were open to trading both Bradley Beal and John Wall, who have anchored the team’s backcourt the last several years.

Then a report from Chris Sheridan on Monday said Bradley Beal wants a trade, though Beal’s agent denied that.

If the Wizards are to trade the players, they would find more takers for Beal than Wall, according to a report.

ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski said on “The Woj Podcast” that the interest in Beal would be greater than it would be for Wall.

“John Wall is a very different situation [from Bradley Beal],” Wojnarowski said on his podcast. “You can count on one hand, and probably with just a couple of fingers, places that really might have interest in taking his contract on and what it all means to bring him in.

“I would never say there’s no market for John Wall, but I think Bradley Beal has a much broader market. But if Washington was going to do something, they would have to get every last asset they could for Beal if they decided to do that.”

Beal is owed just over $55 million through the next two seasons. Wall is signed through 2022/23 and owed over $40 million per season in each of the final three seasons of that deal. Washington probably hates owing so much money to a player fingered as the central issue with the team.
