Netflix will continue to bring the heavy hitters with their popular NBA documentary series “Starting 5.”

In a post to social media on Tuesday, Netflix officially announced the cast for season 2 of “Starting 5.” Boston’s Jaylen Brown, Phoenix’s Kevin Durant, Oklahoma City’s Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Indiana’s Tyrese Haliburton, and the LA Clippers’ James Harden will be the five NBA stars featured this time around.

“Starting 5,” which features Maverick Carter, Peyton Manning, and Barack and Michelle Obama as executive producers, premiered earlier this month on Oct. 9 to rave reviews. In the style of Netflix predecessors “Quarterback” and “Wide Receiver” (those shows focused on the NFL), “Starting 5” follows and documents the lives of five given NBA stars throughout the course of a whole season. For Season 1, the Los Angeles Lakers’ LeBron James, Boston’s Jayson Tatum, Miami’s Jimmy Butler, Minnesota’s Anthony Edwards, and Sacramento’s Domantas Sabonis were the five stars featured.

Netflix will be putting together a similarly star-studded cast for Season 2 with two former NBA MVPs (Durant and Harden), the reigning NBA Finals MVP (Brown), and two up-and-coming young All-Stars (Gilgeous-Alexander and Haliburton). Season 2 will presumably focus on the freshly-tipped-off 2024-25 NBA season, and even with just Durant’s personality alone, there should be plenty of entertainment value there.
