D’Angelo Russell mocks Nick Young video scandal in Foot Locker commercial
D’Angelo Russell learned a valuable lesson about the bro code in his first NBA season, and he is now passing that wisdom on to incoming rookies — in a new Foot Locker commercial, at least.
In an ad spot that Foot Locker released on Tuesday, Russell and two other NBA sophomores — Karl-Anthony Towns and Devin Booker — are shown giving advice to potential No. 1 overall pick Ben Simmons. Towns and Booker spit some cliche lines at Simmons before he turns to Russell, who asks if he has a cell phone. Russell then tosses the phone into the ocean. Check it out:
As most of you know, Russell shared an infamous video on snapchat that featured his Lakers teammate Nick Young admitting he cheated on Iggy Azalea. The timing of the Foot Locker commercial couldn’t be better (or worse, depending on your viewpoint), as Young got some bad news from Iggy over the weekend.
