Evan Mobley’s mom appears to be stirring up some trouble right now.
The Cleveland Cavaliers lost a heartbreaker on Friday to the Toronto Raptors, falling in Game 6 of their first-round playoff series by an overtime final score of 112-110 after an absurd shot by Toronto’s RJ Barrett. The loss by Cleveland at Scotiabank Arena in Toronto, Ont. tied the series at three games apiece.
After the game, Nicol Mobley, mother of the Cavaliers big man Evan, made headlines with a curious repost to her X page. Nicol reposted an old comment by ex-Cleveland champion Channing Frye questioning Cavaliers star Donovan Mitchell’s style of play and his ability to get a team past the second round of the playoffs.
The repost by Nicol has since been removed. But you can see a screenshot here.

Evan and Mitchell have been teammates together in Cleveland since 2022. It was Evan who arrived first after being drafted by the Cavaliers in 2021 before Mitchell followed in a 2022 trade.
Mitchell is a seven-time career NBA All-Star who is one of the very best scorers in the league right now. But his inefficiency shooting series against the Raptors (43.7 percent from the field overall and 11/26 during Friday’s loss) has definitely caused the team some problems.
Since Mitchell arrived, the Cavaliers have indeed won just two total playoff series (both in the first round). Mitchell had a lot of critics online following Cleveland’s Game 6 defeat, and it looks like even his teammate’s mother was one of them.
