Report: Kevin Garnett talking to Cavs, Bucks about coaching consultant role
The Big Ticket might not be away from the game of basketball for long.
According to a report by Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical on Thursday, the newly-retired Kevin Garnett, who is joining TNT’s studio show, is also talking with the Cleveland Cavaliers, the Milwaukee Bucks, and other teams about the possibility of a coaching consultant role. It’s also possible that Garnett could wind up accepting a position with more than one team.

It is possible Garnett could accept jobs with more than one team, making periodic stops into town to work with players, league sources say.

Garnett, the 15-time All-Star, announced his retirement from the NBA as a player last month after a 21-year career. Cavaliers head coach Tyronn Lue, who coached Garnett as an assistant in Boston, has been offering him a spot on the Cleveland staff since September, while Doc Rivers, Garnett’s head coach in Boston, had also been attempting to persuade KG to come to the Los Angeles Clippers. Meanwhile, the Bucks boast head coach Jason Kidd, who coached Garnett for one season in Brooklyn, as well as Jason Terry, who was briefly teammates with Garnett on the Celtics.
The 40-year-old big man’s combination of competitive fire and knowledge of the game was and still is rare, so it isn’t a shock that he’s a hot commodity amongst teams looking for a coaching mercenary to bolster their staff.
