Kings planning to fire George Karl after season
The Sacramento Kings are planning to fire head coach George Karl after the season concludes, according to multiple reports.
Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical reports that Karl is aware of the decision and will travel back with the team on Wednesday before the announcement is made Thursday.
The decision to fire Karl has reportedly been agreed upon by team owner Vivek Ranadive and vice president of basketball operations Vlade Divac. Karl has basically been a dead man walking for months, as the team was reportedly weighing firing him as far back as February.
Sacramento seems intent on keeping DeMarcus Cousins after his career year, and it has become clear that the relationship between Karl and Cousins is beyond repair. While that isn’t the only reason the team has decided to fire Karl, it is probably near or at the top of the list.
