Suns owner Robert Sarver denies rumors that he is planning to sell team
The first couple weeks of the season have already seen the Phoenix Suns fire head coach Earl Watson and exile guard Eric Bledsoe, but owner Robert Sarver will not be the next one headed out the door.
Tim Bontemps of the Washington Post reported on Wednesday that there are “rumblings around the league” that Sarver is looking to sell the Suns.
Sarver, who has owned the team since 2004, took some time to respond to the report on Thursday with a flat-out denial.
“There’s zero accuracy to that story. Zero,” said Sarver, per Scott Bordow of the Arizona Republic. “I have zero interest in selling.”
The Suns have only had one winning season since 2010, and Sarver wouldn’t be the only sinking NBA owner looking to sell with franchise valuations in the stratosphere. But despite the turmoil, Sarver appears to have every intention of riding out his investment in Phoenix.
