Ty Lawson’s time with the Houston Rockets has been no less than a natural disaster. But commendably, the 5-foot-11 guard is still somehow committed to making it work.
Despite recent rumblings about a potential buyout, Lawson reaffirmed his commitment to Houston on Saturday, saying that he wants to finish the season with the Rockets, per Jonathan Feigen of the Houston Chronicle.
Ty Lawson said he wants to finish season with the Rockets. As we reported yesterday, there were talks, but buyout extremely unlikely.

Ty Lawson: “I like the city, I like my fans. I like my teammates. It’s a good fit. I want to be here.”

The 28-year-old has been insufferably bad this season, but a lot of that has to do with the Rockets’ roster being a poor fit for his talents. Lawson is at his best when serving as a primary ballhandler (which he cannot do in the starting lineup next to James Harden) and when playing at an up-tempo pace (which he cannot do alongside Houston’s lead-footed second unit).
Lawson’s dedication to the Rockets is admirable, sure. But with many contending teams potentially in the market for guard depth as the season winds down, it’s definitely not, by any means, practical.
