Tyler Herro is ready to go on his revenge tour.
The new Milwaukee Bucks guard Herro spoke to reporters this week at his youth basketball camp in New Berlin, Wisc. During the interview, Herro fired off a warning about next season.
“I probably have the biggest chip on my shoulder that I’ve had in my career, coming to Milwaukee,” said Herro, per Steve Megargee of the Associated Press. “We’ve been through a lot. Just being able to come here with a new slate, a brand-new team, a brand-new organization, a brand-new coaching staff.
“We all have chip on our shoulders,” Herro added of the Bucks. “Coach [Taylor] Jenkins himself has a chip on his shoulder, the guys who came in the trade with me. It’s not just about me. I think everyone on the team has a chip.”
Herro also said during his media session that he is not worried about his contract status heading into the final year of his deal next season at $33 million. You can read his full remarks at the link here.
The former All-Star Herro, 26, arrived in Milwaukee earlier this summer as part of the Giannis Antetokounmpo blockbuster trade with the Miami Heat. A native of Milwaukee, Herro should have a good chance to be the No. 1 offensive option for the Bucks next season as a 20-ppg scorer for the last five seasons running.
Herro had a fairly messy split from the Heat, whom he had played his entire NBA career for up to this point, and gave a vulgar reaction in June to the news of being traded. The former NBA Sixth Man of the Year Herro also got punched in a Summer League altercation with his longtime Miami co-star Bam Adebayo, so now he is clearly looking forward to getting his vengeance on the court.
