Stanford outfielder Tatum Marsh drew attention on Saturday after making a great game-saving catch in the Cardinal’s game against Virginia.
Stanford and Virginia were tied at 8 in the bottom of the 9th inning at Disharoon Park in Charlottesville, Va. The Cavaliers were the home team and had runners on first and second with two outs. Catcher Jacob Ference was up and laced a shot to the left-center gap. Marsh sprinted to the gap and laid out for an incredible diving catch to preserve the tie and send the game to extra innings.

Stanford ended up losing 9-8 in 10 innings, but that doesn’t change what a great catch that was.
In addition to his spectacular catch, Marsh went 2-for-3 with a walk, run scored and RBI. He is batting .361 on the season. That’s not bad for a freshman.
