Report: Discussions between Nebraska and Fred Hoiberg are ‘ongoing’
The Nebraska Cornhuskers are in need of a new basketball coach, and they seem to have a clear name at the top of the list.
According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, negotiations between Nebraska and former Chicago Bulls coach Fred Hoiberg are “ongoing.”

It does not look like anything is imminent, but the Cornhuskers are clearly interested in Hoiberg, and with good reason. He was a big success at his alma mater Iowa State, leading them to four consecutive NCAA Tournaments from 2012 through 2015. That was followed by a less successful stop in the NBA, where the Chicago Bulls made the playoffs just once during his tenure.
There has been some chatter about another school eyeing Hoiberg, but we haven’t heard much about it recently. A move to Nebraska, located in a region that Hoiberg knows well, may prove to be the best fit.
