The Texas A&M Aggies have hired a new coach to replace Buzz Williams.
Texas A&M is hiring Bucky McMillan as their new men’s basketball coach. McMillan has been the head coach at Samford the last five seasons and will be making a big jump to the SEC. He’ll be receiving a 5-year deal.
At Samford, McMillan went 99-52. His team reached the NCAA Tournament last year and played in the NIT this year but lost in the first round.

McMillan, 41, played his college ball at Birmingham-Southern. After his college career ended, McMillan returned to his alma mater, Mountain Brook High School. He served as an assistant coach at Mountain Brook from 2006-2008 and then was the head coach from 2008-2020.
McMillan has been named the Southern Conference Coach of the Year three times in a row.
Texas A&M needs a new coach after Buzz Williams left to take the Maryland job as a replacement for Kevin Willard. A&M is coming off four straight 20-plus win seasons under Williams. They went 23-11 this season and lost in the second round of the NCAA Tournament for the second year in a row.
