Alabama credited with touchdown after controversial review

Josh Jacobs review

Alabama was awarded a controversial touchdown late in the second quarter of the SEC Championship Game on Saturday.

The Crimson Tide had the ball at the 1-yard line for a 1st-and-goal and handed the ball to Josh Jacobs. Jacobs fumbled the football but briefly recovered it in the end zone before Georgia knocked it out of his hands for the second time.

The initial call on the field was a fumble recovered by the Bulldogs for a touchback.

The referees reviewed the play and overturned the call on the field to a touchdown for Alabama. They determined Jacobs recovered the ball in the end zone for a touchdown before the ball was knocked out of his hands again.

With an extra point, Alabama narrowed the score to 21-14 Georgia with just over two minutes to go in the first half. Had that call not been overturned to a touchdown, the fumble might have been the biggest play of the game and too much for Alabama to overcome.
