Deion Sanders makes big claim about Shedeur while responding to troll

Shedeur Sanders came to his father Deion’s defense on Tuesday, and the Colorado coach has now returned the favor.

In a story that was published by Max Olson of the The Athletic on Monday, defensive back Xavier Smith said he was one of several players who were pushed to transfer after Deion Sanders took over in Boulder prior to last season. Smith said he was hoping for an opportunity to prove to Sanders that he was worthy of a spot on the Colorado roster but that the Hall of Famer “never even tried to get to know me.” Smith also accused Sanders of “destroying guys’ confidence.”

Shedeur responded to the story via social media by saying he doesn’t even remember Smith being on the team. The Colorado star quarterback came to the conclusion that Smith “had to be very mid at best,” which is Shedder’s way of saying Smith is not a good enough player.

Then on Wednesday, a fan replied to one of Deion’s posts on X by telling Deion to “tell yo son stop act like he the coldest out here then put up a 4-8 season.” The coach responded that Shedeur is going to be a top-five pick in the NFL Draft next year and asked the fan “Where yo son going?”

He will be a top 5 pick. Where yo son going ? Lololol I got time today. Lololol https://t.co/tGS6dfm7iy

Sanders has never been one to back down from critics. Some believe he should be more humble after Colorado got off to a hot start last season and finished 4-8, but that is never going to be Coach Prime’s style.

Shedeur had an outstanding first season at Colorado. He finished with 3,230 passing yards, 27 touchdowns and just 3 interceptions. He added another 4 rushing scores. He is currently projected to be drafted in the top five like his father said, but he will need another strong season to make that a reality. Deion may also have plans to try to steer his son to certain NFL teams, which could complicate things.
