Deion Sanders had two toes amputated due to foot issue
Deion Sanders was hospitalized with a foot issue late last year, and the Hall of Famer has revealed another terrifying detail from the ordeal.
Sanders shared a preview clip on Tuesday from the upcoming episode of his “Coach Prime” documentary with Barstool Sports. The video shows that Sanders had to have the big toe and second toe on his left foot amputated. That surgery was one of eight that Sanders underwent.
In the clip, Sanders is shown looking down at his foot for the first time after the toes were removed.
“The hardest thing of it all was to look down there and see that and understand that once upon a time you were this type of athlete and (now) you don’t even know if you’re gonna walk,” Sanders said. “All you feel is pain. You just want to get out of this hospital. You just want to get out.”
You can see the video below, but beware that it is graphic:
Sanders, 54, hinted back in November that his foot complications stemmed from not following doctors’ orders after he had surgery. The Jackson State coach spent several weeks in the hospital and needed a wheelchair when he returned to the team.
We learned previously that the outcome for Sanders could have been a lot worse than two amputated toes.
