Details of Todd Monken’s contract with Georgia released

Todd Monken lasted only one season as the offensive coordinator of the Cleveland Browns, but the details of his contract with Georgia prove he has had no trouble landing on his feet.

Seth Emerson of The Athletic shared some information about Monken’s contract with the Bulldogs on Friday. The deal is worth $3.85 million over three years, and Monken will receive all of the money even if he’s fired. There are some stipulations where he would owe money if he leaves Georgia for a coordinator job in college or the NFL, but not if he is hired as a head coach in the NFL.

There were numerous reports that Monken was not getting along with former Browns head coach Freddie Kitchens during their lone season together in Cleveland. While it’s hard to compare a college program to an NFL team, Monken should have more stability in Georgia than he had with the Browns.

Monken is the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach with Georgia, meaning he will play a big role in grooming the team’s next starting QB. The Bulldogs just landed a big transfer QB this week, so Monken should have plenty to work with in the coming years.
